Joshua Spies won the 76th annual Federal Duck Stamp Competition, held in Bloomington, MN October 17th and 18th, 2008. The Federal Bird and Migratory Stamp Competition is the largest wildlife competition in the world.
This year saw 270 entries.
Spies' painting, Long-Tailed Duck with Decoy, will be featured on the 2009-2010 Federal Duck Stamp, which will go on sale in late June 2009.
Federal Duck Stamp sales generate about $25 million each year to fund wetland habitat acquisition for the National Wildlife Refuge System.
